Noise from the aircrafts
Modern society is impossible to exist without air transport and related with it facilities for everyday’s life. The benefits of global mobility and international trade are in the interests of all members of the society. However, vehicles of land, water or air are always a source of noise with increasing intensity.
With respect to aircraft, technological advances and better flight procedures have led to significant reduction of noise in the air over the past few years.
Technical requirements for the aircrafts to aircraft noise are determined by international standards, introduced in Bulgaria with Ordinance № 16 of January 14, 1999. The latest amendment of Art. 30 of Regulation N 16 from January 2007 implemented the EU Directives related to aircraft noise and now it is not allowed for noisy jets to fly to Varna and Burgas airports.
The Ministry of Health, pursuant to Art. 6, paragraph 5 of Regulation № 7 of MH for the hygiene requirements for health protection of the urban environment, based on the environmental assessment under the Master Plans of Varna and Burgas airports and the graphic cards of the airports, agreed upon the sanitary-protective zone of the two airports zone / area / covered by the noise contour to be 85 dB (A) of LAmax / maximum level of noise of aircraft flying over a particular territory/.
In April 2011 there was a traffic forecast developed for the next 2020-2025-2030. The forecast also includes the maximum noise equivalent to the area around the airport day and night. Under the presented graphic material development "Study of noise environment around airports Varna and Burgas " in May 2011 a new updated version of the Master Plan for development of Bourgas airport chapter "Environmental aspects" was prepared. In May 2011 Fraport TSAM AD put into operation a system for monitoring of continuous measurements of noise indicators, including logging, processing and storage of results with automatic measuring devices and registration. There are four terminal stations on the territory of Bourgas installed for monitoring of the aircraft noise that are configured based on the relevant corridors for departure and arrival of the aircrafts to Bourgas airport. On the basis of data obtained from the system Fraport TSAM AD produces quarterly reports presented to for public use to Executive Agency "Environment".
