Dangerous goods and substances
Dangerous goods and hazardous substances are handled with extreme caution at Burgas Airport. When dangerous goods are transported by air, the data of goods are provided to the receiving airport according to IATA standards. Regular training ensures that all employees involved in handling dangerous goods are trained and have extensive knowledge in this specialized field.
Safety is also a major priority in the use of hazardous substances. Humans and the environment must be protected from the harmful effects of hazardous chemicals.
There is a regular control of all chemical substances and products, taking into account industrial safety, health and environmental criteria. Strict adherence to clearly defined safety precautions and rules of conduct is required.
In relation to ensuring safety of aviation fuel storage tanks in 2008 separation concrete to prevent leakage or in the event of accident, liquid to contaminate the environment were constructed.
To prevent releases of hazardous substances in groundwater in 2011 it was built a separate site for sanitary treatment of foreign airplanes with separate sewer system and an option for wastewater treatment.
