 Assistance for Passengers with reduced mobility

Burgas Airport provides assistance to passengers with reduced mobility, intending to make use of air transportation services, irrespective of whether departing, arriving or being transit passengers. Special assistance to physically impaired persons of limited mobility is provided in compliance with the quality standards, as defined by Regulations (ЕU) 1107/2006 of the European Parliament. The airport has been provided with relevant parking lots, telephones with sign posts, sanitary premises, and ambulift vehicles. All personnel, servicing passengers, undergoes special training aiming at increasing their awareness of the special-care needs people with disabilities and their equality.

Getting to and from the airport
Whether you take bus, taxi or car, you can conveniently reach Burgas Airport. Tourist busses stop directly in front of the Departure Terminal 1 and depart in front of the Arrival Terminal. Taxi is accessible for people in foldable wheelchair who can move from wheelchair to seat.If you reach the airport by taxi, you may stop right in front of the Departure Terminal 1. If you reach the airport by car, two short-term parking spaces are located in front of the Departure Terminal 1. The same conditions apply to Arrival Terminal. Public transportation still is not fully wheelchair accessible.
Assistance needed to/from designated point
In case individual assistance is needed, please use the specially assigned telephone box located in front of Departure Terminal 1 to contact the airport’s assistance staff. A member of our team will come to accompany you and will provide your seamless terminal journey.
At the terminals
The entrance doors of Departure terminal are wide enough and open automatically. Inside the hall, there is a special desk where the staff will be happy to provide you with any information and assistance needed.Wheelchair accessible toilets are available. Most of the shops and cafés are easily accessible while for all the rest the Passenger service staff is 24 hours ready to assist you. The airport facilities for passengers with reduced mobility have the international symbol of wheelchair accessibility.
When and how to apply for assistance
In order to receive the best assistance, please advise the airline of your needs at the time of booking your flight, the latest 48 hours before departure. If you were unable to do so, please inform assistance desk in Departure Terminal 1 as soon as you arrive. Our staff will make every possible effort to provide you with the service required. However, in the cases of short notice, the airport can not guarantee the same quality level as when the assistance is pre-notified.

On departure
At the terminal, or if needed, at every point of arrival (parking, bus, taxi), you will be welcomed by our assistance staff to help you with the baggage, at the check-in, through the security screening to the gate, to the aircraft  and depending on your degree of mobility, to the aircraft seat. If it is necessary specialized equipment will be used for boarding.
On arrival
The airline must inform the airport about the arrival of passengers requiring special assistance. The assistance staff will be waiting either at the aircraft or at the terminal entrance to assist through passport control, baggage reclaim and meeters and greeters area and if required, to the parking or taxi stands. For disembarking, specialized equipment may be used, if necessary.
