Strong Development of Fraport Twin Star Airports in the year 2011

The airports operated by Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD – Burgas and Varna airports - serviced in 2011 a total of 3 435 152 PAX and 30 478 flights, which is a 10 % growth in pax number in comparison with the previous year and 7,3% increase in flights. Cargo handled at FTSAM AD also increased by 5,25 %.
In 2011 for the first time the Russian market was the strongest market at both airports due to extremely high growth rates between 12 % and 35 %. In previous years the German customers were the strongest customer group

The contract for the construction of the New Passenger Terminal Areas at Burgas and Varna airports has been signed today (15 November 2011) in Varna between „Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD and Consortium “TIE- İÇTAŞ”.

Burgas airport organized a special VIP welcome for its’ one millionth passenger for this year. A limousine waited for the jubilee passenger of the sunniest Bulgarian airport. Happy Susana Towe Rawndal, landed with her family at 11:04 a.m. with a flight from Stavanger, Norway.

More Flights from Burgas in the Summer Schedule of the Regular Routes

The new summer flights schedule of Burgas Airport takes effect since March this year. The national carrier Bulgaria Air already performs 17 flights a week from Burgas to Sofia. From Monday till Friday there are three flights a day, the new additional flight ensuring easy transfer to all regular routes. The frequency of Wizz Air flights to London has also doubled. The route is now operated four times a week –on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8.20 pm. The regular route of Norwegian Air Shuttle Burgas-Oslo starts to be operated in April, each Saturday at 11.10am. Burgas Airport Starts Summer Charter Season 2011

The Burgas Airport charter season has now started. The first tourists arrived with a Balkan Holidays airlines charter flight from Tel Aviv.They were welcomed at the sunny airport with spring flowers and souvenirs from Bulgaria. The Burgas Airport management and media representatives met the 167 passengers while enjoying the sounds of a ladies' violin quartet.
The summer schedule of the regular flights also offers new opportunities. In summer 2011, 17 airline companies will operate regular flights to 27 destinations in Europe and Asia. 62 companies have stated that they will operate 116 charter destinations until now
